Traditional Chinese Medicine
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is an ancient system of medicine that views health as a state of internal balance between mind and body…
TCM originated in China over two thousand years ago and is influenced by ancient Chinese philosophy, culture, science and technology.
TCM views symptoms as indications of a deeper imbalance and seeks to find internal balance by treating the root cause. TCM treats the individual, not the disease. Two people with similar symptoms may have a different root cause and therefore receive different treatments.
Practitioners use a number of treatment options based on individual patient evaluation and diagnosis. Treatments may include one or a combination of modalities such as Acupuncture, Auricular Acupuncture, Moxibustion, Cupping, Guasha, Tuina, and Herbal Therapy.
TCM can be used to treat a multitude of conditions and is often used as a complimentary therapy to Western Medicine. Although not yet covered by OHIP, many private benefits plans do offer coverage making treatments affordable or even free.
